Back in June this year, Xiaomi had announced the availability of its Redmi 6 series smartphones for the Chinese markets and there were a lot of speculations that the Chinese mobile manufacturer could be heading to Indian market very soon. Today, it has been officially confirmed that the smartphones are going to reach the Indian shores in the second week of this September.
This afternoon, at a special event for the upcoming product launch of DeshKeNayeSmartphones held in Gurugram, India, Xiaomi India has officially announced the availability of Redmi 6, 6A and 6 Pro smartphones. You might have already known that the mobile manufacturer is taking a lead in the latest trend of ideas and technology into the business of mobile manufacturing. In fact, the manufacturer that has already received the recognition of manufacturing the No.1 selling smartphone called Redmi 5A in India.
At the product launch event, the three smartphones have been announced along with the revelation of pin-point extra-ordinary features that the smartphones must carry. All of the three smartphones have some common features: they support dual VoLTE, Face unlock, a dedicated microSD card slot and Unlock Mi Band.
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 runs MIUI 9.6 on the top of Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and it is powered by Octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 SoC. The device sports a 5.45-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) with an 18:9 aspect ratio and an 80.7 per cent screen to body ratio.
Coming to the camera details, the Redmi 6 sports dual rear cameras with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor, coupled with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25-micron pixels, and Portrait Mode. The smartphone bears a 5-megapixel camera sensor, coupled with f/2.2 aperture, 1.12-micron pixels, and certain AI beautification capabilities for selfies and video-calling. 4G VoLTE, Micro-USB, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, a 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS/ A-GPS and GLONASS are the connectivity options available on the Xiaomi Redmi 6.
Redmi 6 includes a proximity sensor, gyroscope, fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, ambient light sensor and electronic compass. Xiaomi offers Black, Gold, Blue and Rose Gold colour options for the device.
The Redmi 6 will be made available in two versions: one at 3GB RAM + 32GB storage at the price of Rs 7,999 and another at 3GB RAM + 64GB storage at the price of Rs 9,499. Flipkart and Mi.com will start selling the variants from September 10 at 12 PM. If you use HDFC Bank card when you place the order, you can get Rs 500 off (only for the first sale). These prices are introductory and these will be valid for the first two months. After that, you may see there will be an increase.
Redmi 6 Pro
Redmi 6 Pro runs Android Oreo out of the box, and sports a 5.84-inch full-HD+ (1080×2280 pixels) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a notch. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC and coupled with an Adreno 506 GPU. Xiaomi has added a 4,000mAh battery to fuel the 6 Pro smartphone.
Coming to the primary and secondary sensors, the Redmi 6 Pro features a dual back camera: a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor, coupled with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, 1.25-micron pixels, and LED flash. A 5-megapixel front camera sensor is for selfies and video-calling with AI portrait mode. GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 are the connectivity options.
Sensors include fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, digital compass and a proximity sensor. In terms of its colour variants, you have to choose favourite from the Red, Black, Gold, and Blue.
The Redmi 6 Pro will be available in two variants of 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage with the price tag of Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively. You can buy the smartphone from September 11 at 12 PM from Amazon India and Mi.com. If you buy the Redmi 6 Pro smartphone using HDFC Bank debit or credit cards payment, Rs 500 will be off for the first sale i.e on September 11.
Redmi 6A can perform 33% better performance than its predecessor Redmi 5A. Redmi 6A supports AI Face Unlock. Redmi 6A is armed with a 3,000mAh battery. The Redmi 6A features a 5.45-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC has expandable memory via microSD card with a dedicated slot. The storage can be expandable up to 256GB. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box with MI User Interface 9.6.
On the camera details, the Redmi 6A sports a single 13-megapixel back camera with f/2.2 aperture. A 5-megapixel camera sensor is available on the front for selfies and video calling. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2, and a 3.5 headphone jack are the Connectivity options.
Electronic compass, a proximity sensor, Accelerometer and ambient light sensor are the sensors which add to the quality of the smartphone. Redmi 6A will be offered in Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Blue colour options.
Xiaomi’s Redmi 6A will also be offered in two storage variants. A variant of 2GB RAM + 16GB inbuilt storage costs Rs 5,999 and another variant of 2GB RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage costs Rs 6,999 will also be made for sale starting from September 19 at 12PM. The Redmi 6A variants will be available on Mi.com and Amazon India. After two months, you may see an increase in the current introductory prices of these 6A variants.
