Xiaomi launched its new budget smartphones Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A at an event in China yesterday. The newly launched smartphones come with 12nm MediaTek Helio chipsets along with an 18:9 aspect ratio display. Redmi 6 sports a 5.45-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) screen display which is powered by Helio P22 chip with 2GHz octa-core processor paired with either 3 GB RAM, 32GB storage or 4 GB, 64GB storage.
The budget smartphone has 12MP + 5MP on the back and a 5MP for selfies on the front. A fingerprint sensor is mounted on the rear side of the smartphone. Redmi 6’s salient feature is the AI-aided face unlock. The budget smartphone running MIUI 10 with Android Oreo will be priced at Yuan 799 (approx Rs 8000) and Yuan 999 (around Rs 11,000) for 3 GB RAM and 4 GB RAM versions respectively.


Another Xiaomi’s newly launched budget smartphone, Redmi 6A has a 5.45-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio like Redmi 6. The budget smartphone is powered by Helio A22 processor clocked at 2.0GHz. It has been claimed that the chipset is faster than Qualcomm’s processor Snapdragon 425 and Mediatek’s processor MT6739. Redmi 6A has a 13MP camera on the rear and a 5MP on the front for selfies. There will be no fingerprint sensor feature on this budget smartphone but face unlock option can be used for your only biometric unlock option. The smartphone will be available in a single storage version i.e. 2GB RAM with16GB internal storage. Coming to the pricing, it will cost Yuan 599 (approx Rs 6300).


Coming to the availability of the smartphones, it will go on sale from June 15 in China.
